Job Description:

Position Overview: The Business Development Representative is responsible for generation of business opportunities related to new donor blood drive sponsors and/or reactivation of inactive drives while effectively supporting operational strategies for recruitment and collection goals. This position is also responsible for increasing community awareness and participation in the blood donor program.

The Business Development Representative must reflect professionalism, competency, exemplary customer service skills and a genuine appreciation for the donor groups while promoting the values and mission of The Blood Connection. This position requires skills in working with donor sponsor groups, community groups and other employees of The Blood Connection involved in these functions.

Duties:

o Secure new or reactivated donor groups for blood drives-minimum expectation is 3 per month (see Attachment A for details)

o Evaluates eligible donor groups to schedule.

o Updates blood drive scheduling system, TraX-Well, with all necessary information about donor sponsor groups, including blood drive logistics, directions, demographics and contact/coordinator related information.

o Works closely with the Donor Development Team, Relations Team and Production Planning to ensure a healthy blood drive calendar is booked Maintains routine blood drive schedules for active sponsors to ensure assigned booking goal is scheduled daily, weekly and monthly.

o Confirms preliminary blood drive details and logistics with blood drive sponsor groups.

o Submits and confirms final blood drive proposals with Production Planning.

o Provides superior customer service to both blood drive sponsors and blood donors.

o Establishes patronage and relationships with blood drive sponsor groups

o Responsible for educating the community by attending health fairs and community/marketing events and giving presentations to spread the mission of The Blood Connection.

o Organizes meetings with sponsor contacts, committees, and/or employees to educate them and promote blood drives.

o Attends supervisory, health/safety meetings, and employee meetings when possible to further educate and encourage attendance at blood drives.

o Personally attends blood drives as needed.

o Performs site evaluations for new blood drive sponsors to ensure a safe and convenient blood drive set-up.

o Recruits new organizations to become blood drive sponsors.

o Ability to positively promote The Blood Connection.

o Solicits groups to sponsor blood drives. The representative communicates the need for their sponsorship as a community service that meets the community's need for blood donations.

Other Duties:

-- Assures all details (location, contact and demographics, parking, directions, donor incentives, etc.) in blood drive scheduling system, TraX-Well, are accurate.

-- Constructs and maintains TraX-Well notes on all assigned accounts in territory.

-- Ability to utilize, navigate and update all information regarding sponsors into HemaConnect and TraX-Well Software Systems. Data must constantly be updated as new information is received.

-- Other duties as assigned by Director of Donor Resources or applicable supervisor

Customer Service:

-- Displays the highest quality of customer service to all sponsors, patrons, donors, and co-workers.

-- Recruits, educates, motivates, and retains sponsoring organizations.

-- Recognizes that the primary mission is to help blood donors fulfill their desire to become benefactors of community service through blood donation while providing exemplary customer service.

Expectations:

-- Responsible for at least 3 new blood drives scheduled per month (see Attachment A)

-- Facilitates our mission through proactive scheduling and providing information and logistical support to sponsor groups and individual blood donors.

-- Achieves 100% of assigned booking goal each month.

-- Maintains a standard percentage of accuracy. (Percentage of Accuracy is defined as Targeted Goal versus Actual units booked. The range of accuracy is between 95% and 110%).

-- Maintains a set Blood Drive Efficiency Ratio (BDER) when scheduling blood drives of 1.8 per blood drive and average a 1.5 monthly ratio.

-- Departmentally - Works with all members of the Donor Resources Team to achieve a calendar fill rate of 100% booked for the period covering the next eight weeks

-- Departmentally - Works with all members of the Donor Resources Team to achieve a projection accuracy of 95 - 110% accuracy rate daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.

-- Departmentally - Works with all members of the Donor Resources Team to achieve and exceed team goals.

-- Increases number of new donation sponsors

-- Embraces and adapt to change.

Secondary Duties:

General:

-- All personnel are responsible for the overall cleanliness of the building grounds and properties of The Blood Center.

-- All personnel are to show respect and be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the buildings and all property of our blood drive sponsors.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED AND two plus years of college or

three plus years of blood banking experience or three plus years of proven outside sales

experience in a service related industry.

Experience Requirements: B2B sales and business development experience required, marketing or customer service experience

preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-- Must be very detail oriented.

-- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors and co-workers.

-- Ability to sell The Blood Connection to all groups in the community by carrying our message of community service and the necessity of participation and support.

-- Possess the attitude necessary for skillfully asking for blood drives and handling rejection with professionalism and a positive attitude.

-- Possess the tenacity to follow up respectfully with groups without offending.

-- Possess the aptitude for continued skill development.

-- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft office software.

-- Possess a satisfactory driving record.
