We offer a teamoriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilianemployees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organizationfunctioning smoothly and effectively.Learn more about this agency### ResponsibilitiesMaintain surveillance throughout designated activities, observingcustomers, vendors and retail employees, in an effort to prevent anddetect situations related to fraud, loss, or theft. Shall carry outguidance from Asset Protection Supervisor.Identify and react to potential theft situations by detaining anyonesuspected of a fraud or theft and escorting them to the SecurityOffice; preparing incident reports pertaining to security incidents;gathering facts and evidence related to security incidents;reporting observations of real or potential losses, thefts, or fraudto Asset Protection Supervisor and law enforcement; maintainingclose liaison with law enforcement authorities by ensuringdocuments, video and other evidence is available. May be requiredto appear and testify in court or at hearings concerning securitycases.Recognizes types of shoplifters, shoplifting methods, behaviorindicators. Becomes familiar with retail associate procedures,inventory management, vendor procedures, merchandise surveys, andstandard register procedures. Monitors internal and externalsecurity systems to safeguard Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS)assets. Studies inventory losses and conducts inquiries asrequired, in high shortage areas, monitors high cost/low bulk itemsand high shrink departments.Investigates external and internal losses as directed by supervisorychain, reports unauthorized entry and reports of theft or vandalismagainst MCCS facilities.Checks to ensure areas of access are properly secured, alarm systemsare operable, and opening/closing procedures are complete.Maintains log book of checks performed including date/timeperformed and any discoveries. Incumbents musthave good communication and analytical skills in the application ofphysical security techniques and methods, and ability to determinenecessary actions under various security situations.
