  Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-Paced
  As a CEI Roadway Inspector in Wilson/Rocky Mount, NC and surrounding areas, you will ensure that transportation projects like roadways, bridges, greenways, airports, ports, and rail transportation projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Your expertise will ensure compliance and quality in every aspect of construction.

  What You'll Do:
  
  • 
    
  • 
    Oversee construction activities, such as earthmoving, paving, bridge construction, and traffic control, to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
    
    
  • 
    Inspect erosion control measures and environmental compliance while performing material sampling and quality testing.
    
    
  • 
    Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, document contractor performance, and process payment records.
    
    
  • 
    Conduct calculations, maintain records of material quantities, and ensure project timelines are met.
    
    
  • 
    Attend progress and safety meetings, working closely with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve project challenges.

    What We're Looking For:
    
    • 
      
    • 
      A high school diploma/GED and 2+ years of highway-related construction or inspection experience OR a 2-year technical degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with 1 year of highway-related construction experience.
      
      
    • 
      A minimum of two (2) active NCDOT-based certifications, such as QMS Roadway, Conventional Density, Concrete Field Technician, Erosion Control Level II, and/or Nuclear Gauge.
      
      
    • 
      A strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and safety procedures.
      
      
    • 
      Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.
      
      
    • 
      Basic math skills with an understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.

      What to Expect:
      With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), you'll be expected to:
      
      • 
        
      • 
        Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
        
        
      • 
        Walk over rough terrain and stand for long periods (up to 12 hours).
        
        
      • 
        Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment.
        
        
      • 
        Safely handle field tools and maneuver equipment on active construction sites.
