Title: Night Relief/Weekend StaffClassification: Part-Time: Client Services/AdvocacyHours: Friday 5:00PM - Monday 8:00AM Weekdays and nights may be required as well.Onslow Women's Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide safe housing and services to its clients and the community. All employees must be available for scheduling flexibility covering evening, weekend, and holiday shifts if needed. All relief staff are required to be available to work alternate weekend shifts throughout the month.Purpose: Provides additional and/or substitute staff coverage at the shelter on either a scheduled or non-call basis, or both.Supervisor: Reports to and receives supervision from the Shelter Director & Executive Director.Essential Functions:* Provides information, referral, and support on a regular basis.* Conducts client intakes, orientation, contracts, and exit interviews. Performs recordkeeping functions pertaining to clients in the Women's Programs, including data collection, reporting, and case notes.* Provides crisis intervention by telephone and face-to-face.* Maintains knowledge of current issues in the field.* Responds to the safety and welfare of the clients and the care of the facility by reporting needed repairs and health/safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.* Assists in maintaining the shelter and helps ensure the readiness of rooms for occupancy. This includes minor maintenance, necessary cleaning, and stocking of linens, supplies, etc.* Maintains supply of forms and handouts, assembles client files and folders.Other Job Duties:* Assists in delivery of the Women's Program as appropriate.* May assist in gathering of statistical data on program activity.* Perform related duties as assigned by the Shelter Manager.* Resides on premises in the shelter while on duty* Implement all Center rules, responsible for safe and efficient operation of the shelter; supervision of Shelter residents.* Meets and admits new, qualified residents, explains expectations and rules; obtains signature agreement.* Assigns rooms, gives new residents orientation to the Shelter, its policies and procedures.* Insures that residents' rooms are clean and free of clutter upon discharge.* Assigns responsibilities and chores, posts schedules, and supervises the household duties.* Provides Crisis Intervention on the Crisis Line.* Inventories household supplies and equipment; inspects and evaluates physical condition of the establishment, and makes recommendations to the Safe House Manager for repairs, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.* Keeps record of anything significant that happens during a shift to report to Shelter Manager* Paperwork: Maintains Shelter log, daily status reportsQualifications:* Knowledge concerning domestic violence.* Ability to effectively counsel and provide information in crisis situations.* Knowledge of local community and human services resources.* Effective written and verbal communication skills.* Must relate well with others.* Must possess qualities of sincerity and openness, and be able to appropriately express positive and negative feelings.* Must understand and support the philosophy and goals of the Center.* Must possess good physical and mental health.* Must be capable of taking charge and be assertive when appropriate.* Must have valid North Carolina Driver's License.* Must have a good sense of personal boundaries, be able to maintain a professional report with clients* Must be able to perform duties during crisis or if danger arises.* Must be willing to learn and open to instruction and constructive criticismExperience and Training:* Minimum two years post secondary education in social work or related field from college or university.* Experience and/or training in domestic violence prevention preferred.* Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.* Must complete sexual assault/domestic violence/hospital advocacy training.* Previous work or volunteer experience in the Human Services field.* Group home experience helpful.Job Type: Part-timePay: $10.00 - $12.50 per hourBenefits:* Employee discount* Flexible scheduleSchedule:* 12 hour shift* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Holidays* Monday to Friday* Night shift* On call* Weekend availabilityApplication Question(s):* Are you willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations?* Which days and times of the week are you available to work?* Why are you interested in this job?* This job requires 24/7 coverage with rotating staff.
