SummaryMarine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Learn more about this agency ResponsibilitiesMajor Duties: Incumbent performs a variety of cleaning duties that requires physical effort and industrial type equipment. Maintains assigned area in a neat and orderly manner to include but not limited to the following: Making beds, changes sheets, towels, and other linens, and washing linens in commercial machine. Thoroughly cleans guest room to include dusting, waxing and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming and shampooing rugs, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, sanitizing lavatories and other related duties as assigned. Using a ladder, washes walls and windows and dusts drapes and blinds. Turns mattresses, sanitizes all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant, and services each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc.Kitchen area cleaning includes cleaning the refrigerator, to include defrosting and stocking; cleaning stoves, microwaves, washing dishes (pots, pans, glasses, etc.), range hood, wiping down cabinets, stocking amenities, separate trash (example: following state law on proper disposal of aluminum cans/paper), empty irons and update guest books as mon area duties will include cleaning public toilets, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing, or vacuuming assigned hallways, lounges, lobbies, stairways and common areas. The incumbent will be required to empty large trash cans (weight up to 45 lbs.) from public areas and take trash to the dumpster container located as much as 300 feet from the building; quarterly shampooing of carpets and cleaning windows inside and out.Take inventory of furnishings daily, replaces light bulbs as needed in table/floor lamps, and reports all maintenance discrepancies to the housekeeping leader or manager. Responsible for inspecting assigned location for completeness upon check-in and check-out of guests.Reports missing or broken articles to supervisor. Turns in all lost property found on premises to office daily. Incumbent will perform miscellaneous duties such as training new employees according to safety rules and regulations, fill in or assist the laundry worker, report unauthorized visitors or other suspicious incidents to the manager. Required to deal with guest effectively including protocol personnel, high echelon clientele and foreign officers. Will provide additional service when requested or refer guest to the appropriate department. The incumbent will remain in assigned work area during normal working hours.This position is a non-sensitive position. In times of base closure, position is considered essential personnel critical to the continuation of the operational functions.Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact, asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Ability to handle and control heavy powered equipment. Knowledge of proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and ability to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Ability to read and understand directions on labels and printed instructions.Responsibility: Supervisor provides general direction on common and recurring duties and incumbent performs these duties independently. Specific and detailed instructions are provided on new or complex assignments. Work is spot checked to adherence to instructions, completeness, quantity and quality.Physical Effort: Work requires constant standing, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting of objects. Climbs ladders and operates industrial equipment. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance.Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors under normal conditions.
