Summary You will serve as a ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the FACILITIES DIRECTORATE, FACILITIES MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT DIVISEION (CXLCC) of MCAS CHERRY POINT. Responsibilities You will pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). You will insure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. You will utilize safety practices and procedures, following established safety rules and regulations applicable to the electrical trade. You will check work in progress and when finished, check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. You will urge or advise other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods. You will assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used). PHYSICAL EFFORT Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. Employees will be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up 18 kilograms (40 pounds). The employee will occasionally be required to move moderately heavy objects weighing more than 18 kilograms (40 pounds) with assistance from other employees or using lifting devices. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed both inside and outside. Employee will be required to make repairs and installations in all types of weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of up to 30 feet or more; and in close quarters such as manholes and attics. Employee is exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Employee may be required to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, respirators, gloves, and safety shoes.
