Job Description:

DescriptionWe are looking for a Health and Safety Project Manager for a very large construction project located in NC at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point. This office position is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance and metrics with health and safety requirements on construction and environmental projects as defined by Company standards, governmental regulations, and contractual obligations. This position may oversee loss prevention in concurrent multiple or large projects encompassing a number of subcontractors. In this position you will:Ensure the implementation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP)Actively promote and support the health and safety programs at project sitesOversee the completion of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) preparation and acceptanceFacilitate health and safety training for Company staff, subcontractors, and any parties required to participate to ensure achievement of exceptional health & safety performance including developing training content and delivering course informationAuthor health and safety related documentation (reports, logs, records, and site specific risk mitigation plans), completing required information for daily reports and client communications in a timely and accurate mannerEnsure that all documentation is organized and uploaded to the project portalProvide oversight to subcontractors, clients, and project team members to ensure that project activities are completed according to applicable APP(s)Conduct regular inspections to assess health and safety plan adherence as well as identify potential loss and riskTake appropriate actions to prevent loss and mitigate risk in accordance to Company standards and practicesEnsure that deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner and to acceptable measuresRepresent the Company in a positive and professional manner in client and regulatory agency interactions, serving as the primary point of contact for site health & safetyCollaborate with Project Managers to ensure that health and safety activities are incorporated effectively into project plansReport health and safety incidents to the Company Incident DatabaseConduct related investigations thoroughly, completing associated documentation accuratelyEnsure implementation and documentation of corrective actionsVerify implementation and close-out corrective actionsProvide mentoring, direction, and subject matter expertise to Health & Safety Supervisors and/or junior level staffAs requested, participate in employment interviews and make hiring recommendations. As needed, provide performance feedback regarding junior level staffInterface effectively with senior management, escalating issues appropriately and making recommendations regarding policy & procedureReview of qualifications of subcontractorsIn addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position Requirements:The ability to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tactAn aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoningDemonstrated success in teaching others health and safety concepts and requirementsSkilled in leading others without formal reporting authorityProven knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 1-1Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and WindowsEight years of progressive work experience in a position directly related to health and safety for large (50million+) construction projectsEducation: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety or related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.Preferred Qualifications:Successful leadership of subcontractors and project teams in support of health & safety endeavorsPrevious success in working effectively in a dotted line reporting structureDirect responsibility for contract compliance in government construction or environmental projects (NAVFAC, USACE, AFCEE as well as federal regulations)Hands-on experience in industrial hygiene monitoring and use of hazardous work permits.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designationHAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification and 8 Hour Refresher CertificationHAZWOPER Supervisor CertificationUSACE Contractor Quality Management (CQM) TrainingOSHA 30 Hour Construction CertificationECC is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
