Job Description:



The Patient Representative acts as an advocate for all patients, family members and guests. The Patient Representative responds to concerns from patients, families, and other external stakeholders and resolves complaints/grievances in a timely manner. The Patient Representative maintains and reports grievance data to Quality Council. Under the general supervision of the Performance Improvement/Risk Director, assists in the maintenance of adequate health information systems in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies.

Under the general supervision of the Medical Records Director, assists in the maintenance of adequate health information systems in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies. These systems include forms control, chart audits, record security, release of information, transcription and filing. The technician ensures all medical records and related documents are easily located, appropriately filed, assembled and maintained, delivered in a timely manner and analyzed. The Health Information Management Technician assists in maintaining accurate patient databases, answers the departmental telephone and assists internal and external callers as related to the Onslow County Court System. Oversees and manages the court process for involuntarily committed patients.

Demonstrates the consistent ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize the "minimum necessary" rule.

Full Time Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field, Master's preferred.


Prefer experience in a psychiatric hospital setting or other behavioral health setting.

Physical requirements:

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is rated light work when it requires: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight of the materials is negligible.
