Americas Veterans need you!Education and length of practice will be considered by a Compensation Panel in determining the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay).**NOT A TELE-PSYCHIATRY POSITION (Outpatient, Face-to Face)**Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per .Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).Incentives: Possible signing bonus, relocation assistance, and student loan repayment up to $120K for eligible debt.Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.CME: Possible $1,000 per stipend + possible 1 week paid authorized absence to attend.Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.Take a look at VAs Top 20 Reasons Doctors Enjoy Working at VA and VHA Physicians BrochurePLEASE NOTE: Qualified clinical trainees, residents, fellows, interns, etc. are encouraged to apply; please follow the instructions in the How to Apply section.Recruitment /Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorizedAppraised Value Offer (AVO) IS NOT authorizedEducation Debt Reduction (EDRP) IS authorizedMajor duties and responsibilities include:Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post deployment combat Veterans, who are mentally ill and have psychosocial issues such as homelessness, unemployment, and poor family support network.Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.The Psychiatrist may serve as a mental health team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults and triage of specialty clinic referrals.Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.Orders diagnostic tests and consultations, and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.Areas which the psychiatrist is assigned and has clinical privileges to practice may include depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse, and other psychiatric disorders in various clinical settings (outpatient, inpatient, ED).Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pmCall Schedule: May be required to take call every 6-8 weeks, as required by serviceFinancial Disclosure: Not RequiredYou must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.Applicants tentatively selected are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior and will not be appointed if a verified positive drug test result is received. Staff physicians may also include attendings who train physician residents assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.Basic Requirements:United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.of of medicine or an equivalent resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the in which the course of study was completed.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Preferred: Board Certified or Board Eligible PsychiatristPreferred Experience: Board Eligible and/or Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology (ABPN) or comparative of Osteopathy Board.Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.Physical Requirements: In Accordance With VA Directive and Handbook 5019, this position requires a pre-employment physical. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far visions correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.
