Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current nursing license
required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Ability to interpret
and manage dysrhythmias, experience with telemetry monitoring, and
comfort with high acuity patients. Description: This position is
for an inpatient holding support role within a high-traffic area.
Responsibilities include providing care for patients located in the
emergency department who are waiting for an inpatient bed. Patients
may have any medical or surgical adult diagnosis. The nurse may
also care for PCU level patients. Expected duties include taking
medical/surgical and telemetry cases, as well as floating to other
areas as needed. Ratios target 1:7 for medical/surgical/telemetry
cases or 1:4 for PCU level patients. This unit operates with a very
fast-paced environment. Candidates should be comfortable managing
diverse patient care needs and may encounter critically ill
patients. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. The
role demands flexibility, as travelers may float to different units
based on skill set and patient census. Staff are expected to
participate in disaster response teams during catastrophic events.
Orientation is part of the onboarding process, requiring time for
integration into the team. Candidates must also demonstrate
competence in various clinical skills, including telemetry
monitoring and care for patients with colostomies, feeding tubes,
and chest tubes. The use of standard medical equipment such as
cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and a variety of oxygen delivery
systems will be an integral part of the role. Interdisciplinary
collaboration with other healthcare professionals is expected to
