Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/21/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Cardio?Thoracic ICU Facility: FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Location: 155 Memorial Dr, Pinehurst, NC 28374 Start Date: July 14, 2025 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night – 3 × 12?hour shifts (19:00–07:00) Unit: Cardiovascular Thoracic ICU (Cardio Thoracic, Unit 106124) Job Overview Provide critical care in an 18-bed CTICU, supporting post?cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve repair/replacement), advanced cardiac interventions (TAVR, LVAD, IABP), and complex respiratory and renal needs. The role includes every-other weekend coverage and may involve floating to related units. A minimum of one year of cardiac ICU or equivalent critical care experience is required—especially with fresh open-heart post-operative care. Minimum Requirements Experience: - At least 1 year of cardiac or CTICU experience (post-open heart coverage preferred) - Travel experience required Licensure & Certifications: - Active RN license (state or compact) at submission - BLS and ACLS (AHA) required Residency: - Candidates must reside outside Moore County or ?50 miles away Core Clinical Competencies & Skills Hemodynamic & Device Management - Manage arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, central/PICC lines & post-op sheaths - Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips; continuous IV sedation - Monitor and support LVAD/RVAD devices, Flotrac/Vigileo systems - FloTrac and enhanced hemodynamic monitoring systems Cardiac Surgical & Procedural Care - Care for fresh post-open heart cases (CABG, AVR/MVR, TAVR) - Support sheath removal, chest tube insertion/removal post-surgery - Assist in management of complex cases such as STEMI, NSTEMI, pneumothorax, hemothorax, sepsis, multi-system failure Respiratory & Renal Support - Ventilator and ETT/NT suction management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP support - Skilled in CRRT/CVVHD and arterial blood gas interpretation Medication & Infusion Management - Administer heparin/insulin drips, vasoactive agents, IV sedation - Provide blood product support and wound care with drains/V.A.C. Emergency Response & Critical Monitoring - Recognize dysrhythmias and initiate ACLS protocols - Provide advanced life support and code response - Interpret ABGs and make prompt clinical decisions Unit Details - Patient-to-nurse ratio (all shifts): 1:1–1:2 - Beds / Census: 18 beds (up to 16 patients) - Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (6 weekends over 13 weeks) - Float: Required into similar ICU settings as needed - Call: None required Highly capable in cardiac critical care nursing, especially with post-open heart cases (CABG, valve procedures), advanced continuous monitoring (e.g., Flotrac), and complex device management (LVAD/IABP). /n/nDedicated to meticulous patient care, responsive to rapid clinical changes, and resilient under high-stress ICU conditions. /n/nFamiliar with CTICU workflows and comfortable floating across critical care units.
