The Cardiovascular Navigator (CVN) shall provide leadership for the
Cardiac Service Line to promote excellence in heart failure and
chest pain patients. The CVN is responsible for guiding program
development, performance management, knowledge management and
practice management. In addition, this individual shall demonstrate
experience and expertise in the care of a cardiac patient and
implement the role based on the needs of the patient, nursing
staff, and health care delivery system. The CVN will work
collaboratively with clinical staff, medical staff and nursing
leadership to improve patient outcomes as well as accreditation
standards through this navigator's function. The navigator is
expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with CarolinaEast's
Mission, Vision, Values and Behavioral Standards. This position
also serves as a role model and a resource to the staff. Minimum
Requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Current RN license with
the North Carolina State Board of Nursing (NCBON) or Compact
License recognized by the NCBON. Minimum of 3 years in clinical
nursing practice, 2 of those years practicing in cardiac. Current
BLS certification. Certification as a Heart Failure nurse with the
American Association of Heart Failure Nurses within 18 months of
employment. Also, achieve and maintain Cardiovascular Patient Care
Coordinator Certificate within 18 months. Possesses the ability to
relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff
and all others using proper channels of communication. Demonstrate
excellent communication, problem solving, and time management
skills. Demonstrate knowledge of EMR system or current computerized
