    POSITION PURPOSE:--The Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for overall development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment efforts, instructional plans for the district, supporting schools in their teaching and learning efforts, budgeting for programs. The Director will share responsibility with other directors for the coordination, collaboration and supervision of content coordinators. Reports to the Chief Instructional Services Officer.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Provide curriculum management, instructional alignment and assessment best practices to increase student achievement.
    • Serve as the Curriculum Mapping expert for the district and the schools.
    • Provide Instructional Leadership and build Instructional Leadership capacity within the district and schools by working with principals and assistant principals.
    • Work with principals and assistant principals on the ongoing development and analysis of educational trends and student needs.
    • Analyze data to determine needs.
    • Provide leadership in making data driven decisions.
    • Work with higher education to coordinate the offering of graduate level classes and manage cohort groups preparing for leadership positions and participating in district sponsored graduate work and training.
    • Work with the Technology Instructional Specialists and Director of Educational Technology to plan and implement technology integration with the teaching and learning process.
    • Research and disseminate information frequently about standards, support documents, curriculum updates and work collaboratively with the Data Services team in identifying trends and patterns that lead to instructional improvement.
    • Along with other directors, supervise content area specialists and work with instructional coaches at both the district and school levels.
    • Manages budget accounts.
    • Develop and submit reports and accountability practices as required by the Superintendent.
    • Attend state and local meetings as required.
    • Review and monitor School Renewal Plans and develops District Strategic Plan.
    • Programmatic coordination of Title I plans is conducted with the director of federal programs.
      ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the--Chief Instructional--Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Master's degree in a field such as Educational Administration--or related area--preferred.
      • At least three- years of experience in a leadership role at a district or school level.
      • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in use Microsoft--Office Suit.
      • Able to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with a wide variety of people.
      • Able to conduct and analyze educational research.

        • At least three- years of experience in a leadership role at a district or school level.
