Job Description:

Job Summary: Apply engineering skills to the development of gas products, and adaptation of fuel injection components and systems to customer's engines. The product engineer is responsible for developing products starting from customer specifications using adherence to the Stanadyne PDP process and quality standard work. The product engineer is also responsible for the integration of materials, quality methods, and tools necessary to develop products ultimately leading to flawless launch of the product for the customer. Duties and Responsibilities: - Coordinate product development activities including design validation tests, failure mode effects analysis, interface with Manufacturing Engineering, and production validation tests. - Determine fuel system and component technical requirements interfacing with global gasoline engine manufacturers. - Design and develop fuel system components meeting customer requirements demonstrated through rig and on-engine testing. - Adapt current fuel injection equipment to customer's engines, through component design and selection, meeting engine performance and emissions targets. - Personally visits suppliers and occasionally customers in a support role. - Writes reports and makes recommendations on all phases of activity. - Assists Manufacturing Engineering and plant operations in the solution of complex production issues that may drive product improvements. - Directs the activities of up to three technicians and may be required to assist in technician training (functional supervision). - Customer and supplier contact with individuals at multiple engineering and management levels. - Support coordination of product development and application activities with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Sales, Service, Quality and other plant support. - Performs miscellaneous related duties and carries out special projects as assigned. Qualifications: - Computer literate; working Knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Products - Must be an effective communicator both orally and in writing. - Experience in product development preferred. Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and related field. - Minimum of 2 years' experience in related field or equivalent graduate work. - Preferred some experience in gasoline fuel injection equipment and engine test and development. Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 20%. Physical Requirements: None Working Conditions: None Special Qualifications - Reliability Engineering - Coordinates technical project activities including design validation tests, failure mode effects analysis, production validation tests, and interface with manufacturing engineering, quality, marketing, and sales. - Analyze test results, write technical reports and make recommendations related to all phases of engineering activity. - Maintain Failure analysis and Corrective action database and provide resolution. - Reliability software such as: Weibull / Minitab software, Relex, etc. - Professional Certifications like ASQ - CRE is plus. Special Qualifications - Applications - Structured problem solving skills. Special Qualifications - Manufacturing - Working knowledge of ISO/TS requirements and APQP activities. - Demonstrated manufacturing / process knowledge in metal working/machining environment. - Ability to participate on cross-functional teams, including Corporate Staff, other company facilities, as well as skilled labor groups. - Experience with other advanced manufacturing / process technologies.
