Big Rock Sports has an immediate need for a Staff Accountant to work at our Morehead City, NC office.Position OverviewPerform daily, weekly, and monthly activities to support the financial record keeping and safeguarding of Company assets.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position plays an integral role in the operations of the Finance department and will rely on the Staff Accountant to ensure transactions are processed correctly and efficiently. Any issues noted are brought to the attention of department management and resolved in a timely manner. Key activities:Periodic reconciliations of the perpetual inventory to the general ledger; processing and tracking of inventory transfers, product returns, free goods, and defective inventory.Post travel and entertainment ("T&E") expenses to the general ledger and eventually assume responsibility for administering the Company's T&E system (Concur), which would include providing training and support to end users and monitoring general compliance with the Company's T&E policy.Maintain the Company's fixed asset ledger, ensuring it stays in agreement with the general ledger.For assigned accounts, reconcile accounts monthly and investigate reconciling items; prepare journal entries to record activity in the general ledger.Assist with annual external audits preparation and documentation.Understand how various transactions impact other departments/operations, both upstream and downstream. Work to ensure smooth and accurate flow of transactions through the entire process.Research and respond to inquiries made from management as well as other functional areas of the Company in a timely manner.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications / Personal AttributesMinimum of two years of accounting experience in a medium-sized organizationBS or BA in Accounting required; advanced degree and / or professional certifications area a plus (e.g., CPA, CMA)Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesStrong Microsoft Office skillset (primarily Excel)Maintain confidentiality of Company informationDisplay intellectual curiosity and ability to problem-solve; eager to continue learningWork efficiently on individually assigned tasks, with appropriate level of supervision; work collaboratively to achieve organizational objectives
